Fashion For Rent
50 percent of fast fashion items are disposed of within a year of buying.
235 million items of unwanted clothing were expected to have been dumped in UK landfill in 2017 and filling costs the country a staggering £82m per year.
Our aim as a fashion label is first and foremost to create beautiful clothing that women really want to wear but we want to do this without compromising on ethics. We work and produce garments with significant consideration of the impact we’re having on society and the environment.
One of the impacts we want to address is the issue of waste that the current linear fashion model of take-make-dispose causes. A desire for regular wardrobe updates and fast fashion stores pushing for higher sales have resulted in masses of cheap clothing being produced every year. A bit sad looking after a few washes, fabric begins pilling, and it’s not long after being bought that these cheap items are headed for the bin…
Hiring fashion could offer a solution. The idea being that a garment can last longer if it’s shared. Garments are better made and longer wearing as a result.
According to research carried out by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, promoting a global transition to a more circular economy:
If you double the number of times you wear a garment you can decrease its environmental impact by 44%.
A more circular economy aims to give clothes a longer life span while reducing material use and carbon dioxide emissions. You can rent a garment for a special occasion and return it once you’re done for a fraction of the cost. Update and curate your wardrobe ethically for less.
We are now proud to offer our collections for lease online.
